In the words of a wanderer, the passport is a pass to let the traveller inside you go wild and free! It is as important to have a passport today than it is to have a smartphone in your hand.
Technically speaking, the passport is your permit to travel around the world. You can lawfully exit your country and enter another. Every country, including the UK has its own passport.
When you look at the passports of different countries of the world, you would find that the particulars, colour, eligibility criterion, application procedure, validity and value are entirely different from one another.
The application charges do not go beyond £100 in the UK. It would not be a problem if you have a job, but if you do not, you are free to apply for same day loans for unemployed.
The know-how of getting a UK passport has been discussed in detail in the following discussion.
You can apply for your fresh adult passport in the UK, if
- you are a UK national.
- you are at least 16 years old or will be in 3 weeks.
- this is your first passport.
You are supposed to send original copies of all documents listed as a part of your passport application. Photocopies are not accepted by the authorities.
In case certain official certificates are not available, you will still need to get official copies of those documents.
You will need a different set of documents based on your circumstances. The UK government has set varying guidelines for documents based on the following hierarchy.
1. You were born or adopted in the UK.
- Before 1 January 1983.
- On or after 1 January 1983.
2. You were born outside the UK.
- with a certificate of naturalisation/registration.
- Born before 1 January 1983 and are a citizen of British overseas territory.
- Born before 1 January 1983, and your father was born in the UK.
- Born on or after 1 January 1983.
If you fall into a category other than those mentioned above, you can contact the passport authorities to guide you through the documents you would need.
The burgundy or blue passports can be applied for through a simple procedure. These can be followed either through an online portal, or the offline method of physical forms and submissions.
Applying Online. You would need digital copies of all your documents and photographs. The online application portal will guide you extensively through each step of your application.
In this case, you will need a person who can confirm your identity. On entering the person’s details, he or she would be sent guidelines through email guiding him on how to proceed further.
Applying Offline. You buy the application form from a passport helpline or a post office that has a passport check and send services. You will need to submit the filled-in form with 2 passport-sized photographs and your documents.
The form will have a section for your countersignatory to fill and sign. This person is required to confirm your identity. You would also need to get one of your photographs signed with the date by this countersignatory.
After you apply, you may be asked to attend an interview. Once all the application formalities are complete, it usually takes 6 weeks for the passport to arrive.
The Payment Step
Both online and offline methods of passport application incur some fixed charges.
The online portal required you to pay a fee of £75.50, through online payment channels.
The offline method incurs charges amounting to £85 and an additional £9.75 if you make use of the post office passport check and send services.
These charges would not pose a problem for you if you earn well at your job. For the population without a job, payday loans are available.
These short-term loans allow you to cover your immediate expenses, and are repaid on the day you receive your next paycheque.
The whole process of getting a passport is an easy one. Even the finances can be arranged easily using unsecured loans.
Why give up on your travelling dreams, when everything is literally being served on a plate? Let your wanderlust find wings.
